Alhambra tickets sold out? How to still visit
Short answer: If the general Alhambra ticket is sold out on the official website, check the other official tickets before you give up. These are the Granada Card (it has its own Alhambra ticket allocation), Dobla de Oro, Alhambra Experiences, night visits and the gardens ticket. Then check the official website again the evening before your visit, when some last-minute tickets can appear. If none of that works, a large part of the Alhambra hill is free to walk around without any ticket.
First, know what "sold out" usually means
The Alhambra has several ticket types, and they don't all sell out at the same time. The General Day ticket (Alcazaba, Nasrid Palaces, Partal and Generalife) goes first. The reason is the Nasrid Palaces: they admit 300 people every half hour, and you can only go in at the time printed on your ticket. The rest of the complex is open all day (8:30–18:00 from 15 October to 31 March, 8:30–20:00 from 1 April to 14 October).
Official channels are tickets.alhambra-patronato.es, the Patronato's phone sales line, ticket machines and the ticket office, which sells same-day tickets only.
Official alternative tickets to check
All prices below are as listed on the Patronato's website on 1 November 2026.
- Granada Card. The city's tourist pass has its own quota of Alhambra tickets, so cards can still be available after individual tickets sell out. The 72h (€60) and 48h (€55) cards include the general visit with the Nasrid Palaces. The 24h card (€50) includes only the Nasrid Palaces night visit, and the Gardens card (€50) excludes the Nasrid Palaces. You fix your Alhambra date and time when you buy, and no guide or audio guide is included. Check availability at granadatur.clorian.com.
- Dobla de Oro General (€30.48). The general Alhambra visit plus the city's Andalusí monuments (El Bañuelo, Casa Morisca, Dar al-Horra, Casa del Chapiz, Casa de Zafra, Corral del Carbón), which you can visit the day before, the day of or the day after.
- Dobla de Oro at night (€23.06). The same, with the Nasrid Palaces night visit instead.
- Alhambra Experiences (€22.27). You visit the illuminated Nasrid Palaces at night and the Alcazaba, gardens and Generalife by day, on two consecutive days.
- Nasrid Palaces night visit (€12.73). From 15 October to 31 March it runs on Friday and Saturday, 20:00–21:30. From 1 April to 14 October it runs Tuesday to Saturday, 22:00–23:30. It doesn't include the Generalife.
- Gardens day ticket (€12.73). Everything on the public route except the Nasrid Palaces: Generalife, Partal and the Alcazaba (its route is currently adapted, so check what's open on the day).
- Gardens night visit (€8.48). Seasonal. For example, 15 October–14 November it runs Friday and Saturday, 20:00–21:30.
- Alhambra & Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation (€25.45). The general visit plus the Foundation, which opens 10:00–14:00.
Last-minute tickets on the official website
Granada's tourism office says some "last minute" tickets may go on sale on tickets.alhambra-patronato.es the day before, between 20:00 and 22:00, and recommends checking the site on the days before too. The ticket office sells a very small number of same-day tickets, but nothing is guaranteed and the tourism office doesn't recommend relying on it.
Tickets bundled with a tour or audio guide
Many local companies sell the ticket together with a guide or an audio guide. That can be practical, but be careful. Granada's tourism office warns that on dates with no official availability, some sellers take bookings they later cancel, sell a "gardens" visit as if it were the full visit, or charge for tours of the free area. Before paying, check that:
- the seller gives a real address and phone number in Granada,
- the product says clearly whether the Nasrid Palaces are included,
- you know when access is confirmed and what happens if it can't be.
Play Granada is one local option. It has been based at Carrera del Darro 1 since 2003. Its last-minute guided visit in English covers the Generalife, the Alcazaba and other non-Nasrid areas confirmed for your booking. The Nasrid Palaces are not included. Its pages say up front that the Nasrid Palaces aren't included by default: look for that kind of clarity from any company. You can ask about your date or call +34 679 95 69 69 before booking.
Free areas you can visit without a ticket
Part of the Alhambra is open to everyone, with no ticket control. According to Granada's tourism office and the Patronato:
- You can walk in through the Puerta de la Justicia or the Puerta de los Carros.
- Inside the walls: the Palace of Charles V with the Alhambra Museum (free entry), the Plaza de los Aljibes, the Puerta del Vino, Santa María de la Alhambra and the Baño de la Mezquita.
- Outside the walls: the Alhambra forest, with the Puerta de las Granadas, and the walk down the Cuesta de los Chinos.
- Silla del Moro and Torres Bermejas are free to visit on set days (Silla del Moro on Saturdays and Sunday mornings, Torres Bermejas on Saturdays and Sundays).
- The city's Andalusí monuments (Bañuelo, Dar al-Horra, Casa Morisca, Corral del Carbón) are free on Sundays.
If you'd like some context while you walk, Play Granada also has a self-guided Alhambra surroundings audio route that needs no monument ticket. It doesn't include entry to the monument or the Nasrid Palaces.
Timing tips that actually help
- Book ahead for peak dates: weekends, holidays and high season (April, May, August, September, October), says the tourism office.
- Purchases are final. You can't change the date or time after paying.
- Bring ID. Tickets carry your name and can't be transferred. Each visitor shows the ticket with an official ID. Under-14s must be with an adult; visitors aged 14 or over without a guardian need their own ID.
- Don't miss your Nasrid slot. If you're late at the Nasrid Palaces entrance, you won't get in.
- Collect physical tickets at least one hour before your Nasrid time.
- Use the whole day. You can leave and come back, but you can enter each area only once.
